  • What is ELEC?

    Established in 1973‚ ELEC monitors the campaign financing of all elections in the State. Whether the election is for Governor or Mayor‚ member of the Legislature or a City Council‚ candidates and campaign organizations are required to file with the Commission contribution and expenditure reports.

New Law

P.L. 2014, c.58 (effective January 1, 2015), candidates will no longer be required to file a duplicate copy of any campaign report with the county clerk. In addition, each county will be required to provide on its website a link to the Election Law Enforcement Commission’s website (www.elec.state.nj.us) for the purpose of providing public access to all campaign reports required to be reported with the Commission.

Reporting for Political Committees - Forms and Instructions

This manual is not for reporting by a candidate but is used for reporting by a political committee in existence for only one or two elections, such as a public question committee.
